Tom Godbert is an award-winning composer based in Wellington. Originally from Melbourne, Australia, he comes from a varied musical background, with experience in classical/orchestral performance, small jazz combo playing, electronic music production and song writing. Tom is passionate about communicating stories through music, and has helped artists across all disciplines bring their works to life. His music has been featured in films, series, advertisements and theatre works across Melbourne and internationally.​​​​​​​ In 2025 Tom moved to New Zealand to pursue a Master's degree in Film Scoring at Victoria University Wellington.

 

In 2023 I was awarded the GEMS Contemporary Composer Scholarship to attend a film scoring workshop led by film composer Christopher Young in Valencia, Spain. During that workshop I wrote this piece, "Jennifer 8", and recorded it in Madrid with the RTVE Orchestra.
