Tom Godbert is a composer for film, advertising, theatre and games based across Melbourne and Wellington. Originally from Melbourne, he comes from a varied musical background, with experience in orchestral performance, jazz combo playing, electronic music production and songwriting.
Tom's experience includes a residency at the Australian Centre of the Moving Image through ACMI X as a freelance composer, working on a range on film, advertising and theatre projects. Recent theatre works include shows featured in the Melbourne Comedy Festival, Melbourne Fringe, and Midsumma, and his film work regularly screens in major Australian and international festivals. 
Tom recently completed the score for Contract, his first feature film as a lead composer, which is set to release in 2027. He also worked as an orchestrator and session musician under lead composer Ewan Clark on the upcoming feature film A Dog's Show, starring David Wenham and Graham Mctavish.
Tom currently works as an in-house composer with commercial production company Garden State Journal; during his time in this role his music has been featured in advertising campaigns for international brands like Mercedes-Benz, and staple Australian brands such as Mutimer and Volley.
In 2025 Tom temporarily relocated to Wellington, New Zealand where he completed a Master's of Film Scoring at Te Herenga Waka (VUW, New Zealand School of Music). During this time he also assisted Wellington-based composers David Long and Stephen Gallagher on various feature film and television projects as an intern, including their Emmy-winning score for the television series Secrets At Red Rocks.
Tom is passionate about communicating stories through music, and has helped artists across all disciplines bring their works to life. His music has been featured in works across Australia, Aotearoa and beyond.
